A sharp Dominant #11 Pentatonic is used for jazz and fusion solos over dominant chords. Think of it as a five-note dominant color with a raised eleventh. It is A♯ Mixolydian Pentatonic (alt) with the fifth lowered.
Its notes are A♯, B♯, D, E, and G♯. The formula is W W W 4 semitones W. It is the fifth mode of B♯ 7b13 Pentatonic.
Also called Five-Note Prometheus.
The open-string notes E and D all sit inside the key. A guitarist finds the lowest A♯ at the 1st fret of the A string. This scale plays in open position, a whole octave of the scale falling within the first three frets.
