A♯ Double Harmonic Lydian scale

About the A sharp Double Harmonic Lydian scale

A sharp Double Harmonic Lydian is used for Middle Eastern flavored and cinematic music. Think of it as the double harmonic sound with a raised fourth, even more exotic.

Its notes are A, B, C♯♯, D♯♯, E, F, and G♯♯. The formula is H 1½ W H H 1½ H.

Also called Purvi and Kamavardhini.

On the piano, A Double Harmonic Lydian touches the black keys A and F. Even so, the raised fourth is the white key D♯♯. Ascending through this mode, four white keys fall in a row.
