A sharp Hungarian Minor is used for Hungarian and Romani folk, classical and film music. Think of it as a harmonic minor with a raised fourth, the classic Gypsy minor sound.
Its notes are A♯, B♯, C♯, D♯♯, E♯, F♯, and G♯♯. The formula is W H 1½ H H 1½ H. It is the fourth mode of E♯ Double Harmonic Major.
Also called Double Harmonic Minor and Gypsy Minor.
The open-string notes E and A all sit inside this scale. On guitar, the deepest A♯ within reach is the 1st fret of the A string. With a capo at the first fret, A♯ Hungarian Minor can be played with A-shape fingerings.
