A sharp Lydian Dominant is used for jazz, fusion and film scoring. Think of it as a bright, jazzy scale with a raised fourth and a flat seventh.
Its notes are A♯, B♯, C♯♯, D♯♯, E♯, F♯♯, and G♯. The formula is W W W H W H W. It is the fourth mode of E♯ Melodic Minor Ascending.
Also called Mixolydian ♯4 and Acoustic Scale.
Three open-string notes belong to A♯ Lydian Dominant, namely E, D, and G. A guitarist finds the lowest A♯ at the 1st fret of the A string. A full root-to-root octave of the key fits within the first three frets, so it has a real open-position box.
