About the A sharp Lydian Pentatonic scale

A sharp Lydian Pentatonic is used for jazz and film music that wants a weightless color. Think of it as a bright five-note scale with a raised fourth. It is A Chinese with the fifth raised.

Its notes are A, D, E, G, and A. The formula is 4 semitones W 1½ W H. It is the third mode of G Dorian Pentatonic.

The open-string notes E, A, D, and G all sit inside A Lydian Pentatonic. Down at the 1st fret of the A string lies the lowest A a guitar can play. The scale runs a complete octave from root to root inside the first three frets.
