A sharp Pelog (Balinese) is used for gamelan-inspired and ambient music. Think of it as a five-note scale that echoes Balinese pelog tuning, dark and close. It is A♯ Aeolian Pentatonic with the second lowered.
Its notes are A♯, B, C♯, E♯, and F♯. The formula is H W 4 semitones H 4 semitones. It is the second mode of F♯ Ionian Pentatonic.
Also called Pelog Pentatonic and Bhupalam.
The open-string note B sits inside the key. On guitar, the deepest A♯ within reach is the 1st fret of the A string. A capo at the first fret lets a guitarist play A♯ Pelog (Balinese) with A-shape fingerings.
