Its notes are A♯, B, D♯, E♯, and G♯. The formula is H 4 semitones W 1½ W. It is the second mode of G♯ Dorian Pentatonic.
Also called Insen and Kokin-joshi.
One open-string note belongs to A♯ Phrygian Pentatonic, namely B. A guitarist finds the lowest A♯ at the 1st fret of the A string. This scale sits in true open position, with a complete octave of the scale inside the first three frets.
