About the A sharp Suspended Pentatonic scale
A sharp Suspended Pentatonic is used for modal, folk and Asian-flavored melodies. Think of it as a five-note scale with no third, all open fourths and fifths. It is A♯ Minor Pentatonic with the third lowered.
Its notes are A♯, B♯, D♯, E♯, and G♯. The formula is W 1½ W 1½ W. It is the second mode of G♯ Major Pentatonic.
Also called Egyptian and Neutral Pentatonic.
The lowest A♯ on a standard-tuned guitar sits at the 1st fret of the A string. A♯ Suspended Pentatonic plays in open position, a whole octave of the scale falling within the first three frets.
