About the B Locrian scale
B Locrian is used for jazz soloing over half-diminished chords and tense, dissonant passages. Think of it as the most unstable mode of all, restless and unresolved. It is B Phrygian with the fifth lowered.
Its notes are B, C, D, E, F, G, and A. The formula is H W W H W W W. It is the seventh mode of C Major.
Five open-string notes belong to B Locrian, namely E, A, D, G, and B. Down at the 2nd fret of the A string lies the lowest B a guitar can play. The mode runs a complete octave from root to root inside the first three frets.
