About the B Minor Pentatonic scale
B Minor Pentatonic is used for rock, blues, pop and riff-based music of every kind. Think of it as the five-note minor scale, the first scale most guitarists ever learn. It is B Blues Minor Pentatonic with the sixth lowered.
Its notes are B, D, E, F♯, and A. The formula is 1½ W W 1½ W. It is the fifth mode of D Major Pentatonic.
Also called Blues Pentatonic and Yu.
The open-string notes E, A, D, and B all sit inside this mode. Down at the 2nd fret of the A string lies the lowest B a guitar can play. Placed at the second fret, a capo lets B Minor Pentatonic be played with A-shape fingerings.
