C sharp Mixolydian b2 is used for jazz and world-flavored solos over dominant chords. Think of it as a dominant scale with a flat second, bright but with a dark half step.
Its notes are C♯, D, E♯, F♯, G♯, A♯, and B. The formula is H 1½ H W W H W. It is the fifth mode of F♯ Harmonic Major.
Also called Inverted Harmonic Minor and Ahir Bhairav.
The mode shares D and B with the guitar's open strings. A guitarist finds the lowest C♯ at the 4th fret of the A string. A capo at the first fret brings C♯ Mixolydian ♭2 within reach of C-shape fingerings.
