About the D flat Augmented Heptatonic scale

D flat Augmented Heptatonic is used for jazz and cinematic music that wants an augmented pull. Think of it as a seven-note augmented color with a raised second and fifth.

Its notes are D, E, F, G, A, B♭♭, and C. The formula is 1½ H H W H 1½ H.

Also called Segah and Gangeyabhushani.

Two open-string notes belong to D Augmented Heptatonic, namely E and A. On guitar, the deepest D within reach is the 4th fret of the A string. A capo at the first fret brings D Augmented Heptatonic within reach of C-shape fingerings.
