D sharp Hungarian Gypsy is used for folk-flavored and cinematic writing. Think of it as an exotic seven-note scale full of raised tones. It is D Natural Minor with the fourth raised.

Its notes are D, E, F, G♯♯, A, B, and C. The formula is W H 1½ H H W W. It is the fourth mode of A Neapolitan Minor.

Also called Shanmukhapriya and Aeolian 4.

The black keys D, F, A, and C belong to the mode. Even so, the raised fourth is the white key G♯♯.
