G sharp Ritusen (Chinese) is used for folk melodies and pentatonic writing. Think of it as a five-note scale with no third, open and pastoral. It is G♯ Major Pentatonic with the third raised.
Its notes are G♯, A♯, C♯, D♯, and E♯. The formula is W 1½ W W 1½. It is the fourth mode of C♯ Major Pentatonic.
Also called Scottish Pentatonic and Durga.
A guitarist finds the lowest G♯ at the 4th fret of the low E string. With a capo at the first fret, G♯ Ritusen (Chinese) can be played with G-shape fingerings.
