About the C sharp Augmented scale

C sharp Augmented is used for jazz and film music that wants an augmented, symmetrical color. Think of it as a symmetrical six-note scale of alternating minor thirds and half steps.

Its notes are C, E, E, G, A, and B. The formula is 1½ H 1½ H 1½ H. It is the second mode of B Hybrid Hexachord.

Two open-string notes belong to C Augmented, namely E and A. The lowest C on a standard-tuned guitar sits at the 4th fret of the A string. A capo at the first fret brings C Augmented within reach of C-shape fingerings.
