D Mixolydian b2 is used for jazz and world-flavored solos over dominant chords. Think of it as a dominant scale with a flat second, bright but with a dark half step.
Its notes are D, E♭, F♯, G, A, B, and C. The formula is H 1½ H W W H W. It is the fifth mode of G Harmonic Major.
Also called Inverted Harmonic Minor and Ahir Bhairav.
D Mixolydian ♭2 uses two black keys on the piano, E♭ and F♯. This mode includes a stretch of four consecutive white keys.
