About the E flat Bebop Harmonic Minor scale

E flat Bebop Harmonic Minor is used for bebop solos over minor chords. Think of it as a harmonic minor with a chromatic passing tone on top. It is E Bebop Minor with the sixth lowered.

Its notes are E, F, G, A, B, C, D, and D. The formula is W H W W H W H H. It is the seventh mode of G Bebop Major.

Also called Bebop Natural Minor and Utility Minor.

The open-string notes D and B all sit inside this scale. The 6th fret of the A string is the lowest E on the neck. A capo at the first fret lets a guitarist play E Bebop Harmonic Minor with D-shape fingerings.
