About the G Minor Blues scale
G Minor Blues is used for blues, rock and soul solos. Think of it as the minor pentatonic with one extra blue note, the classic blues sound. It is G Blues Diminished with the third raised.
Its notes are G, B♭, C, D♭, D, and F. The formula is 1½ W H H 1½ W.
Also called Blues Scale and Blues Hexatonic.
G Minor Blues shares D and G with the guitar's open strings. The lowest G on a standard-tuned guitar sits at the 3rd fret of the low E string. The scale plays in open position, a whole octave of the scale falling within the first three frets.
