About the G sharp Locrian Pentatonic scale
G sharp Locrian Pentatonic is used for jazz solos over half-diminished chords. Think of it as a five-note scale built around the flat fifth.
Its notes are G♯, B, C♯, D, and F♯. The formula is 1½ W H 4 semitones W. It is the fifth mode of B Dorian Pentatonic.
Also called Minor 7♭5 Pentatonic.
In G♯ Locrian Pentatonic, the open strings sound D and B. On guitar, the deepest G♯ within reach is the 4th fret of the low E string. A capo at the first fret lets a guitarist play G♯ Locrian Pentatonic with G-shape fingerings.
