About the D Augmented scale
D Augmented is used for jazz and film music that wants an augmented, symmetrical color. Think of it as a symmetrical six-note scale of alternating minor thirds and half steps.
Its notes are D, F, F♯, A, A♯, and C♯. The formula is 1½ H 1½ H 1½ H. It is the second mode of C♯ Hybrid Hexachord.
Also called Augmented Hexatonic.
D Augmented uses three black keys on the piano, F♯, A♯, and C♯.
