About the F Augmented scale
F Augmented is used for jazz and film music that wants an augmented, symmetrical color. Think of it as a symmetrical six-note scale of alternating minor thirds and half steps.
Its notes are F, A♭, A, C, C♯, and E. The formula is 1½ H 1½ H 1½ H. It is the second mode of E Hybrid Hexachord.
Also called Augmented Hexatonic.
Two of the notes in F Augmented are black keys, A♭ and C♯.
