About the E Blues Diminished scale
E Blues Diminished is used for blues and jazz-blues solos. Think of it as a six-note blues scale with a diminished twist. It is E Minor Blues with the fourth lowered.
Its notes are E, G, G♯, B♭, B, and D. The formula is 1½ H W H 1½ W.
An unfretted guitar already sounds E, D, G, and B from this mode. On guitar, the deepest E rings from the open low E string. The first three frets carry a complete octave of E Blues Diminished, a genuine open-position shape.
