About the G Blues Diminished scale
G Blues Diminished is used for blues and jazz-blues solos. Think of it as a six-note blues scale with a diminished twist. It is G Minor Blues with the fourth lowered.
Its notes are G, B♭, B, D♭, D, and F. The formula is 1½ H W H 1½ W.
The open-string notes D, G, and B all sit inside the key. On guitar, the deepest G within reach is the 3rd fret of the low E string. The first three frets carry a complete octave of G Blues Diminished, a genuine open-position shape.
