About the F sharp Spanish Heptatonic scale
F sharp Spanish Heptatonic is used for flamenco and Spanish-flavored music. Think of it as the Spanish gypsy scale, a phrygian dominant filled out to eight notes. It is F♯ Bebop Locrian with the fourth lowered.
Its notes are F♯, G, A, A♯, B, C♯, D, and E. The formula is H W H H W H W W. It is the third mode of D Bebop Major.
Also called Flamenco Scale and Spanish Eight-Tone.
E, A, D, G, and B are open guitar strings that sit inside the mode, ready to drone under a riff. Down at the 2nd fret of the low E string lies the lowest F♯ a guitar can play. With a capo at the second fret, F♯ Spanish Heptatonic can be played with E-shape fingerings.
