About the F Spanish Heptatonic scale
F Spanish Heptatonic is used for flamenco and Spanish-flavored music. Think of it as the Spanish gypsy scale, a phrygian dominant filled out to eight notes. It is F Bebop Locrian with the fourth lowered.
Its notes are F, G♭, A♭, A, B♭, C, D♭, and E♭. The formula is H W H H W H W W. It is the third mode of D♭ Bebop Major.
Also called Flamenco Scale and Spanish Eight-Tone.
In F Spanish Heptatonic, the open string sounds A. The 1st fret of the low E string is the lowest F on the neck. Placed at the first fret, a capo lets F Spanish Heptatonic be played with E-shape fingerings.
