Its notes are G, A, B♭, D, and E♭. The formula is W H 4 semitones H 4 semitones. It is the second mode of E♭ Chinese.
Also called Aeolian Pentatonic and Yona Nuki Minor.
This scale shares A, D, and G with the guitar's open strings. On guitar, the deepest G within reach is the 3rd fret of the low E string. A full root-to-root octave of G Hirajoshi (Japanese) fits within the first three frets, so it has a real open-position box.
