A flat Bebop Altered is used for bebop solos over altered dominant chords. Think of it as an altered dominant color built into a bebop scale.
Its notes are A♭, A, C, D♭, E♭, F♭, G♭, and G. The formula is H 1½ H W H W H H.
Also called Bebop Phrygian Dominant and Altered Bebop.
The open-string notes E, A, and G all sit inside the scale. Down at the 4th fret of the low E string lies the lowest A♭ a guitar can play. A capo at the first fret lets a guitarist play A♭ Bebop Altered with G-shape fingerings.
