About the F Dorian #4 scale
F Dorian #4 is used for klezmer and eastern European folk music. Think of it as a dorian minor with a raised fourth.
Its notes are F, G, A♭, B, C, D, and E♭. The formula is W H 1½ H W H W. It is the fourth mode of C Harmonic Minor.
Also called Ukrainian dorian, Romanian Minor, and Mi Sheberach.
The scale shares D, G, and B with the guitar's open strings. The 1st fret of the low E string is the lowest F on the neck. A capo at the first fret lets a guitarist play F Dorian ♯4 with E-shape fingerings.
