About the B Ultra Locrian scale
B Ultra Locrian is used for jazz over diminished dominant chords and extreme, dissonant writing. Think of it as the darkest locrian of all, lowered all the way to a double-flat seventh.
Its notes are B, C, D, E♭, F, G, and A♭. The formula is H W H W W H 1½. It is the seventh mode of C Harmonic Minor.
Also called Altered Diminished.
D, G, and B are open guitar strings that sit inside the mode, ready to drone under a riff. The lowest B on a standard-tuned guitar sits at the 2nd fret of the A string. B Ultra Locrian sits in true open position, with a complete octave of the scale inside the first three frets.
