About the F sharp Ultra Locrian scale
F sharp Ultra Locrian is used for jazz over diminished dominant chords and extreme, dissonant writing. Think of it as the darkest locrian of all, lowered all the way to a double-flat seventh.
Its notes are F♯, G, A, B♭, C, D, and E♭. The formula is H W H W W H 1½. It is the seventh mode of G Harmonic Minor.
Also called Altered Diminished.
Three open-string notes belong to F♯ Ultra Locrian, namely A, D, and G. Down at the 2nd fret of the low E string lies the lowest F♯ a guitar can play. With a capo at the second fret, F♯ Ultra Locrian can be played with E-shape fingerings.
