Practicing it
In the right hand, the thumb comes under on C. D is the left hand's thumb note. Because the two finger patterns are reverses of one another, the hands mirror each other note for note when they move outward from G. F♯ is the black key the long fingers take, anchored by the fourth finger on F♯, which is what keeps the thumb clear of them.
