About the D sharp Algerian scale
D sharp Algerian is used for North African flavored and cinematic music. Think of it as an ornate eight-note scale, a harmonic minor with an extra raised fourth. It is D♯ Diminished with the sixth lowered.
Its notes are D♯, E♯, F♯, G♯, A, A♯, B, and D. The formula is W H W H H H 1½ H. It is the fourth mode of A♯ Bebop Altered.
Three open-string notes belong to D♯ Algerian, namely A, D, and B. Down at the 6th fret of the A string lies the lowest D♯ a guitar can play. Placed at the first fret, a capo lets D♯ Algerian be played with D-shape fingerings.
