About the G sharp Algerian scale
G sharp Algerian is used for North African flavored and cinematic music. Think of it as an ornate eight-note scale, a harmonic minor with an extra raised fourth. It is G♯ Diminished with the sixth lowered.
Its notes are G♯, A♯, B, C♯, D, D♯, E, and G. The formula is W H W H H H 1½ H. It is the fourth mode of D♯ Bebop Altered.
The open-string notes E, D, G, and B all sit inside the key. A guitarist finds the lowest G♯ at the 4th fret of the low E string. A capo at the first fret brings G♯ Algerian within reach of G-shape fingerings.
