About the D sharp Synthetic scale

D sharp Synthetic is used for experimental and cinematic writing. Think of it as a made-up six-note scale with a raised fourth and a flat sixth. It is D Whole Tone with the seventh raised.

Its notes are D, E, G, A, B, and D. The formula is W W W W 1½ H. It is the sixth mode of E Prometheus.

In D Synthetic, the open strings sound A, D, G, and B. The lowest D on a standard-tuned guitar sits at the 6th fret of the A string. A capo at the first fret lets a guitarist play D Synthetic with D-shape fingerings.
