F sharp Synthetic is used for experimental and cinematic writing. Think of it as a made-up six-note scale with a raised fourth and a flat sixth. It is F♯ Whole Tone with the seventh raised.
Its notes are F♯, G♯, A♯, B♯, D, and E♯. The formula is W W W W 1½ H. It is the sixth mode of G♯ Prometheus.
One open-string note belongs to F♯ Synthetic, namely D. A guitarist finds the lowest F♯ at the 2nd fret of the low E string. A capo at the second fret lets a guitarist play F♯ Synthetic with E-shape fingerings.
