About the A flat Prometheus scale
A flat Prometheus is used for impressionist and mystical concert music. Think of it as the mystic chord of Scriabin turned into a scale, a raised fourth with no fifth. It is A♭ Whole Tone with the sixth raised.
Its notes are A♭, B♭, C, D, F, and F♯. The formula is W W W 1½ H W.
Also called Mystic Scale and Mystic Chord.
The open-string note D sits inside the scale. On guitar, the deepest A♭ within reach is the 4th fret of the low E string. With a capo at the first fret, A♭ Prometheus can be played with G-shape fingerings.
