About the G flat Synthetic scale
G flat Synthetic is used for experimental and cinematic writing. Think of it as a made-up six-note scale with a raised fourth and a flat sixth. It is G♭ Whole Tone with the seventh raised.
Its notes are G♭, A♭, B♭, C, D, and F. The formula is W W W W 1½ H. It is the sixth mode of A♭ Prometheus.
In G♭ Synthetic, the open string sounds D. Down at the 2nd fret of the low E string lies the lowest G♭ a guitar can play. A capo at the second fret lets a guitarist play G♭ Synthetic with E-shape fingerings.
