E flat Synthetic is used for experimental and cinematic writing. Think of it as a made-up six-note scale with a raised fourth and a flat sixth. It is E♭ Whole Tone with the seventh raised.
Its notes are E♭, F, G, A, C♭, and D. The formula is W W W W 1½ H. It is the sixth mode of F Prometheus.
Four open-string notes belong to E♭ Synthetic, namely A, D, G, and B. The 6th fret of the A string is the lowest E♭ on the neck. Placed at the first fret, a capo lets E♭ Synthetic be played with D-shape fingerings.
