About the D Synthetic scale
D Synthetic is used for experimental and cinematic writing. Think of it as a made-up six-note scale with a raised fourth and a flat sixth. It is D Whole Tone with the seventh raised.
Its notes are D, E, F♯, G♯, B♭, and C♯. The formula is W W W W 1½ H. It is the sixth mode of E Prometheus.
An unfretted guitar already sounds E and D from D Synthetic. Down at the 5th fret of the A string lies the lowest D a guitar can play.
