About the D flat Synthetic scale
D flat Synthetic is used for experimental and cinematic writing. Think of it as a made-up six-note scale with a raised fourth and a flat sixth. It is D♭ Whole Tone with the seventh raised.
Its notes are D♭, E♭, F, G, A, and C. The formula is W W W W 1½ H. It is the sixth mode of E♭ Prometheus.
A and G are open guitar strings that sit inside this scale, ready to drone under a riff. Down at the 4th fret of the A string lies the lowest D♭ a guitar can play. With a capo at the first fret, D♭ Synthetic can be played with C-shape fingerings.
