About the E flat Chromatic scale
E flat Chromatic is used for passing tones, chromatic runs and free, atonal writing. Think of it as all twelve notes, every half step in the octave.
Its notes are E♭, F♭, F, G♭, G, A♭, A, B♭, C♭, C, D♭, and D. The formula is H H H H H H H H H H H H.
Also called Twelve-Tone Scale.
The open-string notes E, A, D, G, and B all sit inside the key. On guitar, the deepest E♭ within reach is the 6th fret of the A string. With a capo at the first fret, E♭ Chromatic can be played with D-shape fingerings.
