G sharp Mixolydian is used for blues, rock, funk and jam-band grooves like "Sweet Home Alabama". Think of it as a major scale with a bluesy, dominant twist from its flat seventh.
Its notes are G♯, A♯, B♯, C♯, D♯, E♯, and F♯. The formula is W W H W W H W. It is the fifth mode of C♯ Major.
Also called Dominant Scale and Khamaj.
The 4th fret of the low E string is the lowest G♯ on the neck. A capo at the first fret lets a guitarist play G♯ Mixolydian with G-shape fingerings.
