B flat Bebop Dorian is used for bebop and swing minor solos. Think of it as a dorian scale with a chromatic passing tone between third and fourth.
Its notes are B♭, C, D♭, D, E♭, F, G, and A♭. The formula is W H H H W W H W. It is the fifth mode of E♭ Bebop Dominant.
Also called Dorian Bebop.
In B♭ Bebop Dorian, the open strings sound D and G. A guitarist finds the lowest B♭ at the 1st fret of the A string. With a capo at the first fret, B♭ Bebop Dorian can be played with A-shape fingerings.
