About the A sharp Prometheus scale

A sharp Prometheus is used for impressionist and mystical concert music. Think of it as the mystic chord of Scriabin turned into a scale, a raised fourth with no fifth. It is A Whole Tone with the sixth raised.

Its notes are A, B, D, E, G, and G. The formula is W W W 1½ H W.

Learn more about the A♯ Prometheus scale

This scale shares E, D, and G with the guitar's open strings. Down at the 1st fret of the A string lies the lowest A a guitar can play. A full root-to-root octave of A Prometheus fits within the first three frets, so it has a real open-position box.
