C♯ Scriabin scale

About the C sharp Scriabin scale

C sharp Scriabin is used for impressionist and mystical concert music. Think of it as a five-note scale from the late, mystical harmony of Scriabin. It is C Major Pentatonic with the second lowered.

Its notes are C, D, E, G, and A. The formula is H 1½ 1½ W 1½.

Also called Major Pentatonic 2 and Vibhas.

D is an open guitar string that sits inside the mode, ready to drone under a riff. The lowest C on a standard-tuned guitar sits at the 4th fret of the A string. A capo at the first fret brings C Scriabin within reach of C-shape fingerings.
